For the past 20 years I have been photographing the most beautiful shoes in the world. Not professionally - I'm entirely self-taught. But with enormous joy, and with, I think, a genuine eye for what makes these shoes so extraordinary. The goal has always been the same: to take a photograph so vivid and so detailed that you feel like you can reach right through your screen and pick the shoe up. You wish, right? :)

It Started With A Love For Beautiful Things

Lisadore grew out of a simple, passionate obsession with craft. I would visit leather manufacturers and spend hours touching different skins - the suedes, the patents, the reptile prints, the satins - trying to understand what made each one special. Then visiting shoemakers, watching them work, understanding the process. The fitting of the last, the laying of the insole, the stitching of the upper. It is genuinely an art form. And I can spend hours watching them work. 

The Flea Markets

I still love hunting for old props at flea markets. A beautiful antique silver candlestick, a piece of aged velvet, a vintage box - these things end up in my photographs and add something that you just cannot manufacture. They give the shoes a context, a world. And they remind me that beauty and craft are things that endure.

The Lisadore Line

Beyond carrying the legendary Comme il Faut collection, we've developed our own Lisadore line - shoes designed with the same principles in mind. Quality leather, serious foot padding, stable elegant heels, beautiful designs. Made by the same craftsmen, with the same love. The Lisadore shoe is for the dancer who wants something exceptional without the Comme il Faut waiting list. Though honestly - both are worth it.
